Teen Faces Felony Charge Linked to Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl Celebration Shooting

 

A 16-year-old boy is now facing a new felony charge in connection to the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration, where one person was killed and nearly two dozen others were wounded.

According to local juvenile authorities, the teenager was arraigned on Tuesday for unlawful use of a weapon, in addition to the previous felony charge of resisting arrest following the February 14 shooting.

While the new charge could carry a prison sentence of five to 15 years for an adult, a Jackson County Family Court judge will determine whether the teenager will be tried as an adult.

Another 16-year-old is also detained on a lesser gun charge. Additionally, two men are charged with second-degree murder and multiple weapons counts, related to the confrontational incident leading to the shootings.

Furthermore, three Missouri men face federal charges for illegal acquisition of high-powered rifles and firearms with extended magazines in connection with the shooting aftermath.

Unsealed federal documents revealed that 12 individuals were armed, with at least six firing weapons during the rally, attended by an estimated 1 million people in downtown Kansas City.

Federal prosecutors disclosed that among the weapons recovered at the rally scene, an Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 .223-caliber pistol was found in the “fire” position with 26 rounds in a magazine capable of holding 30 rounds, indicating potential use.

The pistol was purchased by 22-year-old Fedo Antonia Manning from a gun store in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in August 2022. Manning is accused of trafficking numerous firearms, including multiple AM-15s.

Another firearm recovered was a Stag Arms 300-caliber pistol, purchased by Williams during a gun show in November for 19-year-old Chaelyn Hendrick Groves, who was underage to buy it himself.

Additionally, Manning and 21-year-old Ronnel Dewayne Williams acquired firearm receivers, enabling the assembly of complete weapons. Manning allegedly acted as a straw buyer of guns later sold to a confidential informant in a separate investigation.
