As a lifelong Patriots fan, it pains me to give Patrick Mahomes the credit he rightfully deserves (but yes, Tom Brady is the best football player of all time). Since I have already taken a look at Tom Brady’s Watch Collection, I thought it made sense to also take a look at the watches of the next great NFL Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes has a pretty nice watch collection, heavy on Rolex (with an Omega thrown in). I’ll take a look at the watches we’ve seen him wear.
Patrick Mahomes’ NFL Draft Watch
The first watch I will point out is the watch he wore during the NFL Draft. Mahomes was drafted 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft (I guess we can call that a steal). Since then, Mahomes has won 1 Super Bowl, played in 2, and was the 2018 NFL MVP. That is a lot of accolades for the 26 year-old Quarterback. So what watch did Mahomes wear to the 2017 NFL Draft? While I can’t make a positive identification, it looks to be a fairly cheap fashion chronograph. Where some NFL players will wear watches worth tens of thousands of dollars to the draft (and before even signing their first contract) Mahomes opted to wear something that wouldn’t break the bank.
Patrick Mahomes’ Two-Tone Rolex Daytona 16523
Shortly after becoming the starter for the Chiefs (and an all-world player) Mahomes could be spotted wearing some nice timepieces, and it usually was a Rolex. One of the first Rolexes Mahomes was spotted wearing was the the two-tone Rolex Daytona Ref. 16523. I believe this is the Zenith Daytona because the subdial rings are solid gold instead of of just lines (as seen on the newer two-tone Daytona Ref. 116503). The two-tone Rolex Daytona Ref. 16523 with black dial is discontinued but currently available on the secondary market for $21,000-plus USD.
Patrick Mahomes Rolex Yacht-Master II
Earlier in his career, Mahomes could also be seen wearing the steel Rolex Yacht-Master II. As described in our review of the Yacht-Master II, this piece is one of Rolexes biggest offerings with a 44mm case diameter. Mahomes was pictured wearing this watch at the 2019 NFL Honors award show where he was named the MVP for the 2018 regular season. The steel Yacht-Master II is one of Rolex’s priciest steel watches with a retail price of $18,750 USD. It isn’t selling at quite the premium of Rolex’s other steel models, so you can pick one up on the secondary market for anywhere from $22,000 USD to $30,000 USD.
Patrick Mahomes’ Rolex GMT-Master II Batman 126710BLNR
The Yacht-Master II isn’t Mahomes’ only steel Rolex. His other steel piece is a little more hyped in collectors’ circles. Mahomes has been spotted numerous times wearing the Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR, also known as the “Batgirl.” The Batgirl has a blue and black bezel similar to the Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” but differs in that the Batgirl has a jubilee bracelet whereas the Batman has an oyster bracelet. The Batgirl was released fairly recently, in 2019 and currently retails for $10,750 USD. You can pick one up on the secondary market for more than twice that price at $25,000 USD.
Patrick Mahomes’ Rolex Yacht-Master 40 126655
Mahomes also owns a couple of Rolex’s more flashy offerings. One of these Rolexes is the Yacht-Master 40 in Everose gold with factory diamond-paved dial (Ref. 126655). This piece blends sport and high jewelry as it is gold with a diamond dial, but comes on a rubber strap. It is not my favorite piece from Rolex but I understand that it has appeal to many. This watch retails for $45,800 USD and is available on the secondary market for between $60,000 USD and $70,000 USD.
Patrick Mahomes’ Rolex Daytona Rainbow 116595RBOW
The final Rolex from Mahomes’ collection is the most extravagant. It is a piece we featured in an article on Our Favorite Gem and Diamond Factory-Set Watches. The piece I am talking about is the gold Rolex Daytona “Rainbow” Ref. 116595RBOW. The case of this Daytona is rose-gold and each of the 36 baguette sapphire gems around the bezel is hand selected for the specific hue. In fact, Rolex is so meticulous about their gem selection, that they expect the diamonds to flow seamlessly from color to color with minimum break to the eye. While this piece isn’t for everyone, it is a work of art and very sought after by the top Rolex collectors. The last reported sale of the Rolex Daytona Rainbow on the secondary market was for around $520,000 USD.
Patrick Mahomes’ Rolex Day-Date Platinum 228396TBR-0030
Because we constantly update our watch spotting articles, we are constantly on the lookout for what celebrities are wearing. Mahomes has obviously been in the news recently, especially for winning Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles. Before the game, Mahomes was spotted arriving at State Farm Stadium in Arizona wearing a baby blue suit and matching watch: a Rolex Day-Date Ref. 228396TBR-0030 in platinum with diamond-set bezel and baby blue dial. This platinum Day-Date is a “price on request” model, so Rolex does not advertise the retail price. However, we are seeing them on the secondary market for around $150,000 USD.
Patrick Mahomes’ Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m GMT
I promised that we would feature a non-Rolex from Mahomes’ collection and I will keep that promise. I was able to find one instance (besides the NFL Draft) of Mahomes wearing a non-Rolex. Mahomes has been photographed wearing the rose gold Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Co-Axial Chronometer GMT 43mm (Ref. 231.50.43.22.02.001). This piece is pretty expensive for an Omega at $36,000 USD retail, but it is solid gold.
