Security camera footage from an apartment building in Los Angeles shows former XFL player Darez Diggs appearing to lead a brutal attack on a man in an elevator.
Diggs is the brother of Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon.
In a video obtained by TMZ, Diggs was seen exiting an elevator while exchanging words with an unidentified man.
While the victim tries closing the doors, Darez prevents them from closing with his hand before getting inside.
Two men, apparently associated with Darez, got inside the elevator and began punching the victim repeatedly. This victim was sent to the ground, with jewelry being ripped off his neck as he was battered and his face kicked.
He was then dragged into the lobby where they all continued to exchange words.
The victim seemed to have yet another chain snatched off his neck in a re-heating of tensions before Darez is seen leaving the lobby in a separate elevator.
Los Angeles Police told TMZ that they were called to the scene, but the suspects had already left the scene.
The incident was said to have taken place on May 29.
Authorities say a robbery was reported, with the account of the events saying three men had stolen an orange purse containing diamonds and other jewelry.
Police say an investigation remains ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far.
Darez played football collegiately at Morgan State and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He played one season in the XFL with the Los Angeles Wildcats in 2020.
Unfortunately for Darez, the middle child in the Diggs household, he hasn’t had a football career as successful as his older brother Stefon and his younger brother Trevon.
Stefon has been one of the best wide receivers the NFL has seen in the past decade – putting up over 8,800 receiving yards across eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills.
Stefon was the league leader in receptions and receiving yards in 2020 – leading to his first Pro-Bowl selection and his first selection to the All-Pro first team.
Youngest brother Trevon has also made a great career for himself as one of the top defensive backs for the Dallas Cowboys.
Across three seasons, Trevon has also been named first-team All-Pro – doing so in 2021 when he led the league in interceptions with eleven.
