“Miracle or Mystery: The Mother and Child with Two Faces United at Birth”

A 27-year-old artist named Vincenzina Care from Toronto, Canada, has gained attention for her remarkable talent in creating hyperrealistic dolls out of polymer clay. People are astonished at the lifelike quality of her dolls, often mistaking them for real infants.

Vincenzina’s fascination with dolls began at the age of seven when her mother gifted her a doll. Heartbroken after the doll broke, she decided to craft her own replacement, sparking a passion that has now become her life’s work.

What sets Vincenzina’s dolls apart is her dedication to inclusivity. She meticulously sculpts dolls with facial differences and health conditions, drawing inspiration from photos of herself as a baby, as well as images of friends and family. These unique dolls are then sold as one-of-a-kind creations or produced in vinyl for a global audience.

The miniature dolls can be completed in a matter of months, while larger dolls may take up to three years, depending on their size and complexity. Vincenzina’s mission is to represent people of all conditions through her dolls, challenging the traditional notion of dolls as symbols of perfection.

She explains, “Dolls were always used as a representation of perfection, and I think we are all perfect however we are born. Some of these dolls are the product of many months spent researching a condition and using my creativity to sculpt the qualities I wanted the doll to have to make it as ethically universal as possible.”

Vincenzina has crafted dolls depicting various conditions such as Down’s syndrome, dwarfism, and cranio-facial duplication. Her goal is to spread awareness and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual. She even donates the doll clothing after use, emphasizing that these dolls are worthy of celebration and value.

Despite facing job loss during the pandemic, Vincenzina turned her passion into a full-time career, supplemented by part-time administrative work and teaching art to children. The process of doll-making serves as a therapeutic outlet for her, and she finds joy in tracking her progress by comparing her older dolls to her recent creations.

On TikTok, Vincenzina showcased her dolls, garnering widespread attention, particularly for a post featuring a doll with cranio-facial duplication, which amassed over 106 million views. She emphasized the message that every life deserves love and appreciation, challenging viewers’ perceptions of beauty and normalcy.

While Vincenzina receives mostly positive comments, some viewers still struggle to accept the dolls as artificial creations, thinking they are real infants. Despite this, she remains focused on her mission and is grateful for the support of her family and friends, who actively contribute to her artistic journey.
