“Update: Former NFL OL Joe Staysniak was arrested on two counts of battery and one of strangulation, per [Yahoo! Sports]. He is accused of assaulting his son & choking his son’s boyfriend. The son told officers that he punched him multiple times, giving him a bloody lip.”
Staysniak reportedly assaulted and choked his son’s boyfriend and punched his son multiple times. He was booked at 1:43 am but was later released from jail that same day.
The former offensive lineman’s son told authorities that he and his boyfriend were sitting in a car when Staysniak approached them and began choking the boyfriend.
Staysniak also allegedly had a gun during the confrontation, according to the boyfriend. According to the former Colts lineman, the gun was not pointed at anyone and the confrontation was largely the fault of his son and his son’s boyfriend.
A statement from Staysniak’s lawyer said via Yahoo! Sports:
“The details of what happened will come out in the courtroom, but we are completely confident that Joe’s actions will be conclusively determined to be legal and justified under the circumstance.”
According to the lineman, he and his wife had to restrain their son.
