On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills released their 52-man roster, and rookie Joseph Andreessen is on it. Being an active roster member for the upcoming season isn’t just a dream come true for the linebacker. His family, and especially his girlfriend, Fabiana, is also overjoyed about the news.
On Wednesday, Fabiana took to her Instagram to write an emotional note, celebrating Andreessen’s 52-man roster inclusion.
“How it’s going vs. how it started… and all that in between. Sooo proud of you! You are so incredible and an inspiration for everyone around you. Can’t wait to see what’s to come, baby. Now more than ever… GO BILLS.”
Andreessen got the news from his agent while sitting alongside his parents.
According to the Buffalo Bills, Joseph Andreessen’s agent broke the news to him on Thursday morning. The linebacker then called his girlfriend who was elated for him. Andreessen said:
“Grateful. That’s probably the best word to use, grateful, just to have the trust of the coaches. There’s still a lot left to be done, a lot left to prove, not only to me, but my teammates now, because I’m given that opportunity to be on this team, to help this team win. So yeah, in this league, there’s no security, so I gotta keep going out here, put work in every day, put good stuff on tape, and do everything I can.”
In addition to Andreessen, 25 tryout players and 12 undrafted rookies participated in the Buffalo Bills’ rookie minicamp. However, only Andreessen earned a 52-man roster spot. Talking about his future, Andreessen said:
“I came in here to try and prove I can play football, but to say that, that there was, like, no doubt, or anything like that, would be lying…I believe in myself. Just happy it all worked out.”
Buffalo’s first regular-season game is against the Arizona Cardinals on September 8.
