Aaron Rodgers’ Discontentment Evident as Jets Suffer Devastating Loss to Dolphins, Dashing Playoff Hopes

Aaron Rodgers has seen enough.

The injured Jets quarterback, who had hoped to return to action this season if the team was still alive for a playoff berth, was seen on the CBS broadcast shaking his head in disgust during Sunday’s blowout loss to the Dolphins, which dropped the team to 5-9 and officially eliminated the Jets from playoffs contention.

Jets' 11th offensive line combination was worst yet

Rodgers, on the sideline, wearing a headset so he could hear the offensive play calls, looked fed up with the results on Sunday, as the Jets fell behind 24-0 in the first half against an injury-decimated Dolphins team that was without wide receiver Tyreek Hill, among others.

It’s the latest bit of ugliness in a season full of them for a Jets team that entered the season with huge expectations, thanks to Rodgers’ arrival from Green Bay.

But those hopes were dashed just four plays into the season when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles.

Rodgers rehabbed from the injury and teased a potential return, perhaps next week against Washington on Christmas Eve.

That seems unrealistic now, thanks to Sunday’s lopsided defeat, coupled with the continued shoddy play from the team’s injury-riddled offensive line and the playoffs officially out of reach.

The scene in Miami was a far cry from where Rodgers, now 40, and the Jets thought they would be after the trade that brought the quarterback to the Meadowlands.

“I’m an old guy so I want to be part of a team that can win it all,” Rodgers said at his introductory press conference in Florham Park in April. “I believe this is a place we can get that done.”

Instead, Rodgers and the Jets look to be headed towards an offseason of uncertainty.
