Gameday elevation off Practice Squad carted off after second-half field goal
New York Jets‘ defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey suffered an injury on a special teams play in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
After Falcons’ kicker Younghoe Koo nailed a 42-yard field goal 11:22 into the second half, Winfrey needed medical attention on the field and was down for a few minutes. He was subsequently carted off and appeared to have a compression boot on his right foot. The Jets trailed, 13-8, at the time of his exit.
#Jets HC Robert Saleh seemed distraught talking about the injury to DL Perrion Winfrey:
‘Perrion is probably done. He’s dealing with a foot. That one is pretty bad, really bad’
Prayers out to that young man 🙏🏾

The team officially tabbed the defensive tackle as doubtful to return with a foot injury. He remained out the rest of the way.
“Perrion’s probably done [for the season],” said head coach Robert Saleh after the loss. “That one’s pretty bad, really bad.”
Winfrey was making his Jets’ debut as a gameday elevation off the Practice Squad. He originally joined the organization on November 7.
The 23-year-old Winfrey, a 2022 fourth-round draft pick, made 13 appearances for the Cleveland Browns as a rookie. The interior lineman recorded 22 tackles, two pass deflections and two quarterback hits.

The Browns waived Winfrey in July amidst personal legal issues. He is one of four defensive tackles active for the Week 13 non-conference matchup.
The Jets lost veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah to a knee injury on their second offensive snap against the Falcons.
